Welcome to my Blog!

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! First let me introduce myself. My name is Jerome Elam and I write a child advocacy column for the Communities@WashingtonTimes. As a child I was molested form the age of five until the age of fourteen and my life has been about the struggle to heal from the trauma I suffered as a young boy. I have blindly wandered down many paths in my life searching for a way to heal the wounded child that lived inside me. I have faced alcohol and depression but found the strength and inspiration to turn my life around. My life changed at seventeen when I joined the United States Marine Corps and began to believe in myself for the first time in my life. I completed my enlistment and entered college graduating to work in the Biotechnology field. I am an advocate for children without a voice who suffer in silence and I work with various organizations to bring an end to child abuse, child sex trafficking and bullying. I am married with two beautiful children and I am thankful everyday to have them have in my life. I love the outdoors including hiking, camping, sailing, surfing, horseback riding, rock climbing, scuba diving, sky diving and mountain biking. I also love to read and I am a musician as well as an artist and my tastes encompass a wide range. Writing is the passion that dominates my life and I have been writing stories since I could hold a pencil in my hand. When I am not writing articles for the Communities@WashingtonTimes I am working on a book about my life as a survivor. I also write science fiction and fantasy and I am also writing a novel entitled "Young Athena Rising." Below I have listed links for my column for the Communities@WashingtonTimes entitled "A Heart Without Compromise" and an article about ending child abuse entitled "An End To Silence." I have also included links to my various interviews on both radio and television. I hope you enjoy my work and I will be updating my blog on a regular basis. I look forward to hearing from you and working together we can all end child abuse. My e-mail address is anendtosilence@gmail.com and I am on Twitter @JeromeElam and on Facebook I can be found by searching with the e-mail aheartwithoutcompromise@gmail.com.
